Week #8 in Emmen, Netherlands

Hallo! This week was the COLDEST WEEK EVER.

It got down to -14 degrees Celsius with how much wind there was. Luckily there was no rain this week! And of course this week we did not have too many appointments so we were outside for at least 4 hours everyday. Yay for being outside!

In fact it was so cold outside that the canals froze and people were iceskating on them! People have told us that hasn't happened in a few years. But luckily every Dutch person has their own pair of ice skates so everyone could enjoy the fun. We even went and walk on one of them! It was super cool!!

This week we knocked in this little dorpje (area outside of Emmen) called Dalen. It's super small and we can walk it all, so we decided to knock on every house there. Our Motto when we go there is "No rock unturned!" So it's been fun getting to know a new area outside of Emmen.

We had a hard week finding new investigators. I just seemed like everyone was saying no. On Sunday, we both fasted to find a family that we could teach and baptize. We knocked for 7 hours straight and worked in 3 different areas. Our last area was our scour area that we prayed over to work in, when we got there it was a new developing area with families flooding it! We got 4 or 5 new potential families to teach. Heavenly Father really does answer our prayers. Fasts really do matter. Something that my mission president told us at our last zone conference was treat your fasts like they are the most important thing. That truly changed my fast this month. I am so thankful that I can come closer to Heavenly Father and be more in tune with the Holy Ghost.

Well I think that's it for this week.

A quick word of advice for Sisters preparing to come to this mission:
Bring a few pairs of thick tights, thermals, and multiple leggings. Wool socks are a MUST here. You need good tough boots that will withstand the wind and rain. Gear up for super cold weather. You will be grateful for when the canals freeze over.

Have a great week!
