Week #6 in Heerlen, Netherlands and a Transfer Call!

Hallo Vrinden,

I'm getting transferred!! As missionaries we don't get to choose, when, where or who will be our mission companion. I have been in Heerlen for just six weeks with Sister Broyles.  But we just heard from our mission president that transfers are happening and we are both leaving Heerlen.

I have received a transfer call to EMMEN, Netherlands. Emmen is way up north and borders Germany.  .  I am so excited that Emmen is apparently a flat place, beautiful and is just 10 kilometers away from Germany. I heard the ward is great from an elder I have been serving with here in Heerlen, Elder Adama, is from Emmen! So I'm excited to go and meet his family and serve where he's from. My New companion is Sister Gagon. I've never met her before, but this is her last transfer! I'm excited to do a lot of good work with her and soak in all of her wisdom and work hard on my Dutch.

This week in Heerlen, I fell off my bike! How did this happen? Well I tapped the back of Sister Broyles bike while she was stationary and just like a movie I fell off and skinned my knee. The lights on my bike popped off and I was on the ground. It was very dramatic. Luckily my lights snapped back on and my tights weren't even ripped! My knee still hurts but that's the price of being a new biker.

We put two of our investigators of baptismal date! Rob and Rein are their names and they are best friends. We have been teaching them together and they both accepted the date of February 24th to be baptised! I am so excited for them to follow Jesus Christ and feel the love that He has for both of them.

I don't haven anything else really to say. Heerlen was good to me. I can't wait to see more of the world and work hard! One of my best friends, Elder Bateman, and his new companion, is coming to replace me here. I'm so excited for Heerlen.  I am also excite to go to Emmen and to meet my new comp!

I love you all! Hope you have a great week! I know that God lives and that He knows and cares about us. He's truly there. If you don't know, then ask him if He's there.

Love you all!

P.S. We have some very sad news in our family this week.  My mom's former mission companion passed away from cancer.  She has a very special place in our hearts.  We pray for her daughter who survives her.  On the same day we lost another treasured friend and former neighbor, a young father of three boys, was killed in a car accident.  Our hearts are broken.  We are grateful for the knowledge that we will see our family and friends again thanks to the atonement of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
